Three Wolverines Earn WHAC Player of the Week Honors

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced the WHAC Weekly Honors for the week of October 14th. Juanita Higgins (Women's Bowling), Kenzie Mertz (Volleyball), and Ryan Stanley (Men's Ice Hockey) were all named Players of the Week for their respective sports.

Juanita Higgins - Women's Bowler of the Week

After her performance at The Nelson this past weekend, Juanita Higgins was named Co-Bowler of the Week. Higgins bowled a three-game total of 539 to finish tied for eighth. Higgins rolled a single-game high of 216 in her first game to propel her to a tie for first amongst WHAC competitors. Higgins weekly award marks the first time the Wolverines have won Women's Bowler of the Week since Amanda Williams won in 2020.

Kenzie Mertz - Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week

Mertz earns her fourth WHAC Weekly award of the year after a strong weekend for the Wolverine libero. Despite going 1-1 on the week, Mertz was dominant for the Wolverines, tallying 51 digs and recording just one reception error in 33 chances. Mertz boosted her digs/set over the weekend, moving to second place in the conference with 4.84 digs/set. 

Ryan Stanley - Men's Ice Hockey Defender of the Week

Stanley earns Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Stanley continued his strong season after anchoring the Wolverines blue line to a pair of wins this weekend. Stanley tallied four points in two games, including a powerplay goal in a 6-2 win on Friday.
