Wolverines Shutout Yellow Jackets in 1-0 Victory

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team pulled out a victory on the road on Saturday (Oct. 12) against the Defiance College Yellow Jackets. Despite outshooting the Yellow Jackets 31-3, the Wolverines won the contest 1-0.

UM-Dearborn spent most of the contest in the offensive third of the pitch. The Wolverines got off to an early lead because of the offensive pressure when Emmi Pinkowski's boot was on the end of a Nadia Saab pass in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead.  The Yellow Jacket goalkeeper was frustrating the Wolverines all afternoon as she made an astonishing 14 saves to deny them from expanding their lead.

An insurance goal was unnecessary because of a solid effort from the Wolverines backline, which allowed just two shots on goal the entire day. Isabelle Shaw pushed aside both chances to keep the clean sheet and give the Wolverines their second win in WHAC play.
