CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn cross country traveled to Iowa for the Seminole Valley Stampede on Saturday (Oct. 5). Both teams ran well at the event, with the men's team taking 10th out of 19, and the women's team taking ninth out of 15. The day was highlighted by Brett Leidal, who set a new school record in the 8k after posting a time of 25:15.1.
Leidal new school record was good enough for a top-10 finish on the afternoon. Joe Seibert was four spots behind Leidal as he ran seven seconds slower than Leidal with a time of 25:22.5. Anderson Gattis ran 27:46.5 to take 109th. Luke Kaferle was five spots behind Gattis, running 27:55.1. Isaac Tiernan and John Borowicz rounded out the Wolverines' performance in 128th and 137th.
In the women's race, Lauryn Hoover was the top finisher with a time of 23:50.1. Hoover's time was good enough for 32nd place. Four positions separated Kaitlyn Bourque and Elena Wheeler as Bourque ran 24:37.8 and Wheeler ran 24:46.5. Tariyah Dawson ran 26:20.4 for 84th place. Sabrina Kroll rounded out the Wolverines' day with a time of 26:57.1
