Wolverines Suffer Setback Against Defiance

DEARBORN, Mich. -- In a challenging Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference volleyball matchup, the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines stumbled against the Defiance Yellow Jackets on Saturday (Oct. 19) at The Fieldhouse. The Wolverines struggled to find their rhythm against a determined Defiance team, ultimately falling 0-3 in a tightly contested series of sets.

The Wolverines opened the first set with a competitive spirit, narrowly losing 22-25. The subsequent sets saw Defiance maintaining their momentum, winning 25-18 and 25-20 in the second and third sets, respectively. Despite their best efforts, UM-Dearborn was unable to secure a win, highlighted by key performances from both teams. Jill Paryaski headlined the Wolverines notables as she buried eight kills in 17 swings to finish with a .235 kill percentage.

Defensive plays were also critical with Marisa Fetterley recording 3 total blocks for UM-Dearborn. Kenzie Mertz demonstrated resilience on defense, amassing 22 digs. On the service line, Laura Chandler managed to score an ace for the Wolverines.

Looking ahead, UM-Dearborn will aim to bounce back as they face UNOH in Lima, Ohio on Friday (Oct. 25). As the Wolverines prepare for their upcoming challenge, they hold a season record of 12 wins and eight losses, with a conference tally of 4-7.
