Women's Basketball Overpowered by Taylor

DEARBORN, Mich. -- On Tuesday (Nov. 12), the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team fell to Taylor University in a tough home matchup, losing 100-62. The game saw a dominant performance from the visitors, who shot efficiently and displayed depth in their rotation.

Taylor was led by senior guard Ava Henson, who had a game-high 25 points, including three three-pointers, and grabbed 11 rebounds. She was joined by a strong supporting cast, with Whitney Warfel contributing 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting and Kacey Ott adding 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Trojans shot 50.7% from the field and were solid from three-point range, hitting 10 of 23 attempts (43.5%). Their size and aggressive play on both ends of the floor gave them a decisive advantage.

Despite some strong individual performances, UM-Dearborn struggled with efficiency, especially from beyond the arc. The Wolverines shot 18.8% from three-point range (3-of-16) and had difficulty containing Taylor's offensive firepower. Olivia Scott led the Wolverines with eight points and six rebounds, while Nyla Hood added 10 points, but the team's offensive flow was inconsistent. India Grissom also chipped in 10 points off the bench, but the team shot just 42.1% overall and 55% from the free-throw line, leaving points on the table in critical moments.

Taylor's defensive pressure forced UM-Dearborn into 19 turnovers, and the Trojans capitalized on these opportunities with fast breaks and quick scoring. The Wolverines were also out-rebounded, 49-26, with the Trojans dominating the glass, led by Kacey Ott and Maycee Woods.

The loss brings the Wolverines' record to 0-5, while Taylor improves to 4-1 on the season.
