RICHMOND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team faced off against Indiana East on Monday (Nov. 11) at Lingle Court. Ultimately, the Wolverines fell 89-71.
The Wolverines were led by Jackson Reynolds, who played 34 minutes and finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. However, the team's shooting woes, particularly from beyond the arc, contributed to their defeat. UM-Dearborn shot just 31.8% from three-point range (7-22) and struggled to finish around the rim, shooting only 39% from the field overall (23-59). Free throw shooting was also a challenge, with the Wolverines making 64.3% of their attempts (18-28).
Reynolds was supported by Elvis Machul Jr. (11 points, five rebounds) and Joshua Warren (13 points, five rebounds, three assists). Machul Jr. contributed a pair of three-pointers, but overall, the team struggled to find consistency from long range.
On the other hand, Indiana East was led by Jake Johnson, who was a dominant force with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. Johnson's sharp shooting from the floor (9-17) and three-point range (3-9) kept the Wolverines on their heels. Antuane Allen added 18 points and six rebounds, and Tarrell Jewell contributed a well-rounded effort with eight points and nine rebounds. The Red Wolves shot 47.5% from the field and hit 8-of-26 from beyond the arc.
The Wolverines struggled defensively to contain Indiana East's offensive explosion, particularly in the second half. Despite a strong team effort that saw contributions from bench players like Abdulrahman Helwa (5 points, three rebounds) and Myron Brewer (seven points, five rebounds), UM-Dearborn couldn't close the gap.
