Wolverines Sweep Spartans on Senior Night

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan- Dearborn women's hockey team took on rival team Michigan State in game two of their home-and-home series on Saturday, February 15th. The Wolverines would sweep the series and take both games with today's action-packed win with a final score of 4-3 on senior night. 

There was no action in the first period as it was filled with defense and the Wolverines outshooting the Spartans 14-7. However, in the second, the Wolverines would strike first with a goal from Grace Adriaanse, giving the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. But, the Wolverines wouldn't stop here as they scored the second goal of the game as well from captain Cadence Pero. However, Michigan State would score, cutting the lead to just one with a score of 2-1. Grace Adriaanse would find the back of the net again, giving the Wolverines a two-goal lead again. Michigan State would score in the late minutes of the second to cut the lead to one again.

Both teams started slowly in the third, but the Wolverines struck again halfway through, giving them a 4-2 lead. Michigan State scored with a minute left in the third, cutting it to one goal again. However, the Wolverines shut down Michigan State and sealed the win with a final score of 4-3.
