SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- In a hard-fought contest, the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team came up short against Lawrence Tech, falling 68-58 on Saturday (Jan. 18) afternoon. Despite a strong effort from Marissa Thomas and contributions across the board, the Wolverines couldn't overcome a strong shooting performance by the Blue Devils, particularly from beyond the arc.
The game was tight early, with both teams struggling to establish an offensive rhythm. The Wolverines defense kept them in the game, but they couldn't fully capitalize on Lawrence Tech's offensive mistakes. Marissa Thomas scored 11 of her 20 points in the first half, helping the Wolverines stay within striking distance. At the break, Lawrence Tech held a 31-28 lead.
The Blue Devils came out strong in the second half, particularly with the shooting of Maggie Long, who drained three 3-pointers after halftime to help extend Lawrence Tech's lead. Despite a solid effort by UM-Dearborn, including key buckets from Jordan Banks and India Grissom, the Wolverines couldn't find their rhythm from deep, hitting just 2 of 10 three-pointers for the game.
