Late Surge Splits Points Against Crusaders

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team showed composure in a fiercely contested contest at Star International Academy on Wednesday (Aug. 28). The Wolverines came back from 2-0 down against the Great Lakes Christian College Crusaders. Emmi Pinkowski and Ruth Windeler scored goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest to finish in a 2-2 tie.

The Crusaders led 2-0 heading into the 79th minute. However, Coach Easter has instilled a never-quit mentality in his club, and the team leaned on that with their backs against the wall. Pinkowski and Windeler would give the Wolverines life in the 85th minute when Pinkowski scored the first goal of the Wolverines' season. With the clock winding down, the Maize & Blue made one final push towards the Windeler, caught the Crusader goalkeeper off her line, and deposited her first goal of the season. The clock expired 16 seconds later, and the Wolverines earned a hard-fought result.

UM-Dearborn outshot the Crusaders 14-10, but GLCC put one more shot on frame than the Wolverines.
