DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team fell to Grand Valley State 4-2 on Friday night at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena. The Wolverines battled hard but were unable to overcome a strong performance by the visiting Lakers.

Grand Valley State jumped to an early lead in the first period, with Kamryn Hellman netting a shorthanded goal at 9:23, giving the Lakers a 1-0 advantage. Despite several opportunities, the Wolverines were unable to find the back of the net in the opening frame, as GVSU goalie Adrian Morales stopped all 12 shots faced.

Michigan-Dearborn responded late in the period when Craig McKague cut the deficit to 2-1 with an unassisted goal at 17:18. However, the Wolverines' momentum was short-lived, as the Lakers carried their one-goal lead into the third period.

However, the Wolverines couldn't close the gap, and the Lakers held on for the win.
