DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan- Dearborn men's hockey team took on Davenport University Thursday, January 30th. The Wolverines were back in action at home, coming out the winners with a final score of 4-2. Despite a slow start in the first period, the Wolverines got it together in the following two periods and didn't look back.
The Wolverines looked shaky in the first period however got back to their game late in the first scoring with three minutes left in the first with a power play goal from Bailey Byrd giving the Wolverines the spark they needed heading into the second period. However, Davenport answered right back, scoring within a minute and a half tying the game at 1-1. The Wolverines weren't going to let that goal phase them as within the first minute of the second Caleb Cathcart found the back of the net, and right after not even 30 seconds after fellow Wolverine Carter Allen found one giving the Wolverines a 3-1 lead just a minute into the second.
Davenport would respond in the opening minutes of the third giving the Wolverines just a one-goal lead. Although hopes looked alive for Davenport, Craig McKague would fire back with a goal of his own just seconds after giving the Wolverines their two-goal lead back. Outstanding goal-tending from Drew Adams, making some remarkable saves and stopping 29-31 shots on the night, keeping the Wolverines in the game.
The Wolverines are back in action Friday, January 31, away against Davenport as they look to sweep the home-home series.
