Wolverines Take Down Warriors in OT

DEARBORN, Mich. -- In a thrilling matchup at the UM-Dearborn ice arena, the UM-Dearborn women's ice hockey team edged out Indiana Tech with a final score of 3-2 after an overtime victory. The game showcased intense competition and resilience from the Wolverines, who fought back from a late deficit to secure the win.

The first period was tightly contested, with both teams unable to find the back of the net despite some solid scoring opportunities. The defensive units and goalies held strong, leading to a scoreless tie after the opening frame.

In the second period, Indiana Tech broke the deadlock at 2:12 with a power-play goal from Halle Murray, assisted by Hailey Terpstra and Megan Yakiwchuk. The Warriors carried this momentum into the third period, but shortly after, UM-Dearborn began to turn the tide.

Cadence Pero tied the game at 9:16 in the third period, scoring unassisted and igniting the home crowd. Just a few minutes later, Nicole Hahn found the net at 14:07 with assists from Emily Waugaman and Maddison McIndoo, putting the Wolverines ahead 2-1.

However, Indiana Tech wasn't done yet. Carys Wytinck pulled her team back into contention by scoring with just 38 seconds left in regulation, capitalizing on an assist from Murray to level the score at 2-2. Both teams entered overtime with everything on the line.

Over time, UM-Dearborn's Andi Evers would become the hero. At 2:44, Evers scored the decisive goal, assisted by Cadence Pero, sending the home crowd into a frenzy and sealing the victory for the Wolverines.
