GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn cross country teams wrapped up the 2024 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. The women's team earned a sixth-place finish (170 points), while the men's team took seventh-place (178 points). Brett Leidal and Joe Seibert finished inside the top 14 runners to earn All-Conference accolades.
Cornerstone took home the top spot in the women's race, finishing with 31 points. Aquinas was a close second with 49 points, and Madonna rounded out the top three with 92 points. Elena Wheeler was the top finisher for the women's team; her final time of 24:33.15 was a personal record in a 32nd-place finish. Lauryn Hoover finished next in 36th as she crossed the tape in 24:55.33. Kaitlyn Bourque took 43rd with a time of 25:37.60. Sabrina Kroll and Itzel Huerta-Martinez finished with PRs in 56th and 66th, respectively. Tariyah Dawson claimed 68th with a time of 26:58.05. Nisreen Chahine rounded out the scoring for the Wolverines with a final time of 29:15.65.
In the men's competition, Aquinas won, taking home first place with 26 points. Cornerstone took second with 75 points, and Indiana Tech rounded out the top three with 94.
Brett Leidal and Joe Seibert finished back-to-back in 11th and 12th, with just two seconds separating them. Leidal and Seibert earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Anderson Gattis claimed 75th as he crossed the finish line in 28:26.44. Isaac Tiernan took 81st, running 28:41.71. John Borowicz, Luke Kaferle, and Adam Haag rounded out the Wolverine finishers, taking 88th, 108th, and 121st, respectively.
