Wolverines Fall Short Against Cougars

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Michigan- Dearborn baseball team continued its four-game slate against the Spring Arbor Cougars. Unfortunately, the Wolverines dropped both games on Saturday (Sept. 21), losing the first game 4-3 and the second game 9-0.

In game one, the Wolverines had high hopes as pitcher Luis Gallardo went  6.2 innings, allowed four runs, and struck out one. However, the Wolverines were battling back the whole game as they let up three runs in the first four innings. Things started to turn in favor of the Wolverines as Beck Kjeldbjerg singled through the right side, scoring two runs for the Wolverines. Then, not long after, teammate James Forner singled through the left side, scoring another run for the Wolverine and tying the game at three. However, it was not enough for the Wolverines as they would give one up in the bottom of the seventh, and the Cougars would walk off the Wolverines 4-3 in game one. The Cougars would shut out the Wolverines in game two 9-0. Dylan Ruhstorfer, Gavin Hampton, Carter Stephenson, Nathan Deleruyelle, and Brady Dion all recorded hits in the final game of the series.
