ADRIAN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team held off the Siena Heights Saints in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday (Sept. 11). The Saints came back from being down two sets to force a decisive fifth set, but the Wolverines prevailed 15-9 on the road.
Kielee Tondryk (Pingree Grove, Ill. / Hampshire High School) led all scorers with 20 points after housing 18 kills on 46 attempts. Marisa Fetterley added eight kills of her own. However, Paryaski was strong at the net as she tallied eight block assists on the night. Regan Rose recorded a double-double after dishing out 34 assists and tallying 15 digs.
After taking the first two sets 25-19 and 25-18, the Wolverines started making mistakes at the net, allowing the Saints to get back into the contest. The Wolverines hit -.208 and .000 in the third and fourth set, losing 17-25 and 23-25. However, the deciding set was all UM-Dearborn, as the Wolverines jumped out to a 7-4 lead after a Laura Chandler ace. UM-Dearborn would rattle off two of the following three points after a kill from Paryaski and an attack error from SHU. UM-Dearborn would end the match with a Tondryk kill to put away the Saints and earn their first conference victory of the year.
