UM-Dearborn Men’s Basketball Edges Northwestern Ohio, 91-86, in Thrilling WHAC Victory

LIMA, Ohio -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team (3-9, 2-3 WHAC) pulled off a thrilling 91-86 win over the University of Northwestern Ohio (4-6, 2-3 WHAC) on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in a back-and-forth Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) showdown. The victory marks a crucial win for the Wolverines as they look to build momentum in the conference.

In a game that saw both teams exchange leads throughout, Michigan-Dearborn held on in the second half to secure the victory. Despite trailing by 5 points (47-42) at halftime, the Wolverines came out of the break with a strong offensive performance, outscoring UNOH 49-39 in the second half to clinch the win.

Key Performances:

  • Jackson Reynolds had a career performance, pouring in a game-high 40 points on 11-of-21 shooting. Reynolds connected on 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and was a perfect 15-of-20 from the free-throw line. In addition to his scoring, Reynolds contributed four rebounds, six assists, and one steal in 40 minutes of action.
  • Joshua Warren was a strong secondary scorer. He finished with 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-4 from three-point range. He also grabbed seven rebounds, dished out three assists, and added four steals.
  • Abdulrahman Helwa made a significant impact off the bench, scoring 9 points on 3-of-5 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, while also contributing three rebounds and one assist.
  • Collin Miller added 12 points and four rebounds, hitting 2-of-5 from deep, and played a key role in the Wolverines' second-half push.

Ryan Archey was the standout performer for Northwestern Ohio, leading the Racers with 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including 2-of-2 from three-point range. Jayden Sims also contributed a strong performance off the bench with 19 points, including 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range.
