ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- Turnovers plagued the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team on Wednesday (Jan. 8). The Rochester Christian Warriors forced the Wolverines into 26 turnovers, pulling away in the second half in a 68-51 loss for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines trailed by two points after the opening quarter after shooting 46.7% from the field and 50% from behind the arc. Jordan Banks and Marissa Thomas led the Wolverines with five points apiece. The Wolverine defense stepped up in the second quarter, holding the Warriors to eight points on 3-of-18 shooting. Banks erupted for seven points and five rebounds in the quarter, giving the Wolverines a 31-27 lead heading into the break.
The Warriors outscored the Wolverines 41-20 in the second half, forcing the Wolverines into 26 total turnovers in the contest. The Warriors scored 21 points off of turnovers and added 14 second-chance points to upend the Wolverines. The contest saw nine ties and six lead changes in a back-and-forth affair.
