ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team suffered a tough loss to Concordia University (MI) with a final score of 74-44. The game was part of the Wolverines' ongoing struggle this season, as they fell to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while Concordia improved to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
UM-Dearborn stayed relatively close in the first quarter, trailing 18-15. However, Concordia dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Wolverines 23-8 to take a commanding 41-23 lead into halftime. In the third and fourth quarters, UM-Dearborn only managed 9 and 12 points, respectively, while Concordia continued to expand their lead, finishing with a 73-44 victory.
Individually, Bailey Stimac led the Wolverines in scoring with 11 points, shooting 5-of-13 from the field. Marissa Thomas added eight points, while Sydney Dixon contributed three points and four rebounds in 25 minutes of play. Olivia Scott also pulled down four rebounds and finished with five points. The Wolverines shot 27.3% from the field and 14.3% from three-point range, hindering their offensive efforts throughout the game.
For Concordia, Abby Long led all scorers with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Lauren Borsenik was also a standout, contributing 20 points and nine rebounds. Jess Andrew and Ryan Moorer added 11 and four points, respectively. Concordia shot 42.2% from the field and 76.5% from the free-throw line while also dominating the boards, collecting 54 rebounds compared to UM-Dearborn's 31.
The Wolverines are back in action on Saturday (Nov. 23), when they take on the Siena Heights Saints at the Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
