Wolverines Stumble on the Road Against No. 6 Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team dropped an 8-2 decision to No. 6 Adrian College Thursday night at the Arrington Ice Arena. Despite a strong first-period showing, the Wolverines could not contain Adrian's offensive surge, as the Bulldogs scored seven unanswered goals after the opening frame to secure the lopsided victory.

The game started with a strong start for Michigan-Dearborn when senior defenseman Max Hartwell scored a power-play goal at 9:13, giving the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. Hartwell, assisted by Joey Cibor and Carter Allen, capitalized on a Bulldogs penalty to give his team an early advantage.

Adrian College responded late in the first period when Sebastian Smith found the back of the net at 17:04, assisted by Hunter Allen and Matt Cruz, to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the intermission.

The Bulldogs quickly took control in the second period, rattling off three goals in just over eight minutes to take a commanding 4-1 lead. Hunter Allen put Adrian ahead at 2:53 with an unassisted goal, and then at 8:41, Cale Strasky made it 3-1, with assists from Alex Schaumbuger and Matteo Turrin.

Just 92 seconds later, Adrian extended its lead to 4-1 when Ethan McLaughlin scored at 10:33, assisted by Justin Jamer.

Michigan-Dearborn responded late in the period with a power-play goal from Caleb Cathcart at 18:24, assisted by Craig McKague and Bailey Byrd, cutting the deficit to 4-2. However, that would be the last offense the Wolverines would generate as Adrian continued to dominate.

Adrian's offensive onslaught continued in the third period. Alex Schaumbuger scored just 3:24 into the final frame, followed by goals from Nash Hatcher (14:08), Keegan DeCaluwe (14:41), and Cameron Armstrong (19:08), as the Bulldogs cruised to an 8-2 victory.

Despite a high shot count for Adrian (35 shots on goal), Michigan-Dearborn could not capitalize on its power play opportunities, finishing 2-for-9 with the man advantage. The Wolverines' goaltender, Drew Adams, faced 35 shots, making 27 saves in the loss.
