MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. -- The No. 9 University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team clinched a 2-0 win against the No. 8 Lindenwood Lions on Saturday (Oct. 19), showcasing a solid defensive display at the Centene Community Ice Center.

The game started with both teams unable to break the deadlock in the first period, leaving the scoreboard at 0-0. The Wolverines ramped up their efforts in the second period, leading to Cadence Pero scoring the contest's first goal at the beginning of the period, nudging UM-Dearborn ahead. The score remained tight at 1-0 until the third period when Megan Kosempel widened the gap with a decisive goal at 02:26, solidifying the Wolverines' lead.

UM-Dearborn's goalie, Kenna Borso, was pivotal in ensuring a shutout against the Lions. Assists from Andi Evers and Maya Ferracciolo contributed to the team's offensive success. UM-Dearborn faced several penalties during the game but managed to keep Lindenwood at bay despite aggressive play, which resulted in a major five-minute penalty and a 10-minute match penalty for Lindenwood's Madison Teague.

The Wolverines improve to 4-3-0 on the young season and await a home-and-home series against Concordia (MI) next Friday and Saturday.
