ROYAL OAK, Mich. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn baseball team continued the fall portion of their season playing host to the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars Friday afternoon in Royal Oak, Mich.
Despite the Wolverines scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to get within one, MVNU pulled away in the later innings including a five-run ninth to secure a 17-7 win over UM-Dearborn.
Leading the way for the Wolverines was Beck Kjeldbjerg, going 2 for 3 on the day, including a 3-run homer. Carlo Corona, Lance Smith, and James Forner would also drive in runs for UM-Dearborn.
Leading the way for the Cougars was Zackary Hoop, going 3 for 6, with four runs batted in.
Luis Gallardo took the loss on the mound for the Wolverines in four innings of work.
UM-Dearborn will return to action with a doubleheader against Mount Vernon Nazarene, starting at 1pm tomorrow at Leprechauns Stadium in Royal Oak, Mich.
