Wolverines let early lead slip, fall in OT to Adrian College

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan Dearborn women's hockey team took on last year's national champions and rivals, the Adrian College Bulldogs at home on Friday, January 26. The Wolverines would let up two goals in the 3rd period, however UM-Dearborn would keep fighting but unfortunately fall in overtime with a final score of 3-2 and putting their season record at 11-12.

The women Wolverines would strike first with a powerplay goal from #24 Andi Evers, assisting on her goal was #55 Amy Palaian, half way through the first period. However, that was not all for the Wolverines as they would score again late in the first as well. With just over two minutes left #49 Stephanie Hatch would find her fellow Wolverine #12 Nicole Hahn, who fires a shot from the left dash and picks the opposite corner giving the women Wolverines a 2-0 lead heading into the second.

The second period would be an all out defense showing as neither team would score in the second after firing shot after shot. The third period the Bulldogs would find their first goal of the game coming with a very lucky bounce after clearing the puck into the zone, and taking a hard right bounce into the net. As the women Wolverines found themselves in penalty trouble the Bulldogs would score their second goal on a power play and tie the game 2-2. The Bulldogs would end up winning with a breakaway goal in overtime with a final score of 3-2.

The women Wolverines are back in action against the Adrian Bulldogs again tomorrow night at 7pm at the Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich.
