DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan- Dearborn men's hockey team took on Rochester Christian University in game two of the two-game home-and-home series. The Saturday matinee contest marked the final Wolverine home game of the season. Seniors Josh Makarchuk, Craig McKague, Blake Petterle, and Justin Renzi were honored during a pregame ceremony. The Wolverines started hot and opened the floodgates early, scoring four first-period goals and sweeping Rochester Christian with a final score of 9-2 on Saturday (Feb. 15).
The Wolverines started hot with four unanswered goals in the first period and didn't look back after that. The goal scorers were Ryan Teets, giving the Wolverines the 1-0 and starting the scoring frenzy for the Wolverines. The following two goals would come early in the first as well, with goals scored from Bailey Byrd and Renzi. Byrd added his second goal of period with six seconds remaining in the period.
RCU would score five minutes into the second period, but the Wolverines would answer with three unanswered goals to make it 7-1. Brenden Paden, Renzi, and Dawson Nelson all scored in the period. However, Rochester would score again right before the end of the second. The third period would be a quiet one as only two goals were scored by Caleb Cathcart and Josh Makarchuk, giving the Wolverines the win with a final score of 9-2.
