Late Goal Stuns Wolverines

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision against Indiana University Northwest on Friday (Aug. 23) at Crestwood High School. The RedHawks scored late in the second half to take the road victory.

Both teams traded chances in the opening half. The Wolverines outshot the RedHawks 4-3 in the first 45 minutes, but neither team could find the back of the net. Each team needed a save from the goalkeepers to keep the stalemate. Nadia Saab (Dearborn, Mich. / Crestwood High School) recorded two shots, one of which was on goal.

The second half saw a lot more action, with 17 shots being attempted from both sides. The RedHawks flipped the script from the first half and registered 12 shots in the second half. Julia Tasker made five saves. However, the RedHawks scored in the 73 minute on a long-range rocket that Tasker could not push over the crossbar. The Wolverines had a late corner kick with the clock winding down but could not get on the end of moving them to 0-2-0 in the early beginnings of their season.
