UM-Dearborn Women's Ice Hockey Shuts Out Lake Superior State 4-0

DEARBORN, Mich.  The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team dominated Lake Superior State, securing a 4-0 victory at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena on Friday night. With a strong all-around performance, the Wolverines earned their second consecutive win, improving to 8-8 on the season.

The game remained scoreless through the first period, with both teams generating chances but unable to break through. UM-Dearborn outshot Lake Superior State 13-5 in the opening frame, but LSSU goaltender Asia Kachuk stood tall to keep the game level.

The Wolverines broke the deadlock early in the second period, with Finnia O'Neill Di Mascio finding the back of the net at 2:14. Zoe Zaifman and Charlise Wharram assisted O'Neill Di Mascio's goal.

UM-Dearborn extended their lead late in the second period on a power play, as Amy Palaian fired a shot past Kachuk at 17:56, with Andi Evers and Grace Adriaanse earning the assists.

In the third period, the Wolverines took control of the game. A power-play goal from Zoe Zaifman at 13:06, set up by Wharram and Riley Vandenheuvel, made it 3-0. The game's final goal came at 18:18, when Cadence Pero scored unassisted to cap off the 4-0 win.

UM-Dearborn's goaltender Kenna Borso posted a 24-save shutout, blanking the Lakers on 24 shots. Kachuk made 34 saves for Lake Superior State but was under constant pressure as the Wolverines outshot the Lakers 38-24.

The Wolverines capitalized on two of their five power-play opportunities, while the Lakers could not convert on either of their two power plays.
