LIVONIA, Mich. -- In a hard-fought contest at the CCWHA Tournament Championship, the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team fell short against Adrian (Div. 1) with a final score of 1-0. The game, played at Eddie Edgar Arena in Livonia, Michigan, was a defensive battle, but a single goal in the third period by Adrian's Nadia Nickel sealed the victory for the Bulldogs.

The first period was an intense back-and-forth affair, with both teams maintaining tight defensive structures. UM-Dearborn and Adrian had their share of penalties, but neither team could break the deadlock in the opening frame. The Bulldogs outshot the Wolverines 18-3, but UM-Dearborn goalie Kenna Borso stood strong in net, making 18 saves to keep her team in the game.

The second period saw a similar pattern, with both teams continuing to battle hard but struggling to find the back of the net. UM-Dearborn managed to get five shots off, but Adrian's goalie, Rieley Jessie-Gerell, was up to the task, stopping all attempts. The Bulldogs held a 13-5 shot advantage in the period but could not convert. Despite a couple of penalty kills, neither team could capitalize on their power play opportunities, and the score remained tied 0-0 after two periods of play.

Adrian finally broke the deadlock early in the third period. At 8:14, Nadia Nickel took a pass from Brenna Ward and Tess McKerrow and found the back of the net, giving Adrian a 1-0 lead. UM-Dearborn responded with a strong effort to tie the game, registering nine shots in the third period. However, Jessie-Gerell made key saves, including stopping a few close-range attempts from the Wolverines. Despite a late power-play opportunity, UM-Dearborn couldn't find the equalizer.
