Wolverines overpowered by Saints first half, fall 79-64

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team returned to action against the Aquinas College Saints in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup.

The Wolverines faced a slow start in the first quarter, but bounced with their best quarter of the game in the second, however, the Saints also had their strongest quarter, taking a 15-point lead into the break. The two sides were even in point scoring in the second half, but the lead accumulated by the Aquinas was enough to keep UM-Dearborn at bay, handing the Wolverines the 79-64 defeat.

UM-Dearborn was led by the duo of India Grissom and Maya Barakat. Grissom finished with a team-high 23 points and added six rebounds, while Barakat added a double-double with 21 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Leading the Saints was Alona Blackwell, who finished with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The Wolverines are back in action against the Indiana Tech Warriors at 6 pm Wednesday, February 14th in Fort Wayne, Ind.
