Wolverines Tripped up Against Maryville

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team continued their challenging non-conference schedule on Saturday (Oct. 5) as they finished the backend of a two-game series against Maryville University at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center. Maryville took the contest 4-1, moving the Wolverines to 1-3-0 on the year.

Neither team could get anything going in a choppy first period that saw 10 minutes of penalties. Kenna Borso kept the Saints off the board, stopping eight shots. The Saints broke the game open in the second, scoring three unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes of the period. Megan Kosempel got the Wolverines on the board in the last 90 seconds to make it 3-1 heading into the final period.

Despite putting 11 shots on the net in the final period, the Wolverines could not find the back of the net; looking to gain an extra skater, the Wolverines emptied their net, allowing the Saints to score their fourth goal.

The Wolverines take on Grand Valley State in a home-and-home series starting Friday (Oct. 11).
