DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team closed out the regular season with a 1-0 win over Arizona State on Sunday (Feb. 16). The win marks the fourth win in a row for the Wolverines and their third win in less than 72 hours. The Wolverines finished the regular season 17-13-5 and now await their opponent for the CCWHA Playoffs.
The Wolverines played a phenomenal game defensively as they held the No. 11 Sun Devils scoreless after a 29 save performance from Kenna Borso. The lone goal in the game came in the last minute of the second period when Grace Andriaanse re-directed a Cadence Pero shot from the face-off circle and past the Sun Devil netminder to give the Wolverines a powerplay goal and the 1-0 advantage with just 20 minutes to play. As tired legs set in the Wolverines relied on veteran leadership in the final minutes to close out a crucial victory.
