GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team was defeated by Aquinas College, 91-73, in a road contest at Aquinas' Sturrus Center on Wednesday (Jan. 15). Despite a strong individual effort from Jackson Reynolds and solid contributions from Thomas Dillard IV, the Wolverines fell to the Saints 91-73.
The Wolverines had a six-point lead at the 10:41 mark of the first half. The Saints closed the half with a commanding run, resulting in a 10-point deficit after the first 20 minutes. The Saints shot an efficient 50.0% from the field in the first 20 minutes, including 45.5% from beyond the arc (5-11). Meanwhile, the Wolverines were inefficient from behind the arc, making just one three in seven attempts. Coming out of the break, UM-Dearborn looked to close the gap, but Aquinas maintained their offensive firepower. The Saints extended their lead to 91-73 by the final buzzer, thanks to another strong shooting performance in the second half (58.1% from the field, 45.5% from three).
Jackson Reynolds had a team-high 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting, while Thomas Dillard IV finished with 13 points, nine of which came in the first half. The Wolverines will end their two-game road stretch on Saturday (Jan. 18) as they take on Lawrence Tech at 3 pm.
