Wolverines Struggle in 4-1 Defeat Against Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team struggled on Saturday (Feb. 3) in a game against the Indiana Tech Warriors. The Warriors took the contest 4-1 to split the regular season series 2-2. 

The game started with Indiana Tech scoring the first goal 48 seconds into the first period, with Pavel Svoboda scoring, assisted by Connor Funke. The second period saw another goal from Indiana Tech, with Avery Smith scoring, assisted by Colton Nikiforuk. However, UM-Dearborn would not give up quickly, and they scored their first and only goal of the game at the 10:52 mark of the second period. Ian Kimble scored, assisted by Declan Flanagan and Matt Cunningham, bringing the score to 2-1.

The third period was not kind to UM-Dearborn, as Indiana Tech scored two more goals. At the 8:12 mark, Joey Mocnik scored, assisted by Austin Buck, and at 15:30, TJ Dougan scored unassisted, bringing the final score to 4-1 in favor of Indiana Tech.

UM-Dearborn had 26 shots on goal, with Ian Kimble leading the team with four shots. Drew Adams, the UM-Dearborn goalie, recorded 30 saves in the game. On the other hand, Indiana Tech had 34 shots on goal, and their goalie, Ty Barnhill, recorded 25 saves.
