Wolverines Season Ends in WHAC Quarterfinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team traveled to West Michigan for a Wednesday night matchup against the Aquinas College Saints. This marks the third time the teams have met this season, but the stakes were much different this time, as a loss for the Wolverines would end their season. The Wolverines would take the opening set, but Aquinas would find their stride in the final three sets to take a 3-1 victory at the Sturrus Sports Center.

The Wolverines were prepared for a dogfight after jumping out to an early 7-2 lead. The Wolverine lead would expand to 21-12 after a beautiful kill down the line from Kielee Tondryk, forcing the Saints into a timeout. The Wolverines would not be denied, scoring four of the next five points and concluding with another Tondryk kill. The opening set win marks just the second time the Saints have dropped a set since September 14th.

Aquinas wouldn't have any trouble the rest of the way, as they would win the final three sets by a score of 25-16. Tondryk had an amazing day, finishing with 20 kills and a .500 kill percentage. Tondryk led the match in kills and points. Kenzie Mertz led the match with 17 digs, while Regan Rose finished with a double-double, dishing out 28 assists and 12 digs.
