Tournament Hopes Stay Alive, UM-Dearborn Takes Down No. 9 Michigan 2-1

ST. LOUIS, Mo, -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team. Secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over the University of Michigan on Thursday (Mar. 14). The game saw both teams trading blows, but it was UM-Dearborn who came out on top.

UM-Dearborn started the game strongly and took a 1-0 lead in the first period. The scoring was opened by Taylor Spence, who scored the first goal for UM-Dearborn in the ACHA Tournament history, assisted by Nicole Hahn.

Michigan tried to mount a comeback, and the Wolverines pulled one goal back in the third period when Julia Lindahl scored, assisted by Katherine German. However, UM-Dearborn's defense stood tall and prevented Michigan from scoring any more goals.

The game was a closely contested battle, with both teams having many opportunities to score. UM-Dearborn had more shots on goal, with a total of 38 compared to Michigan's 26. UM-Dearborn also had more power play opportunities and converted one of them to score a goal.

The three stars of the game were awarded to the University of Michigan's Katherine German, who had one assist, UM-Dearborn's Charlise Wharram, who had one assist, and UM-Dearborn's goalie Kenna Borso, who made 25 saves.
