DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team secured a thrilling 80-74 victory over Defiance College in a highly competitive women's basketball game at The Fieldhouse. The win ends the Wolverines losing streak and ends the season on a very high note.

The game was closely contested from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Defiance College led by just one point after the first quarter, 19-18, but Michigan-Dearborn fought back in the second, ending the half down by one at 38-37. Both teams came out strong in the third quarter, but the Wolverines found their stride thanks to 19 combined points from India Grissom and Bailey Stimac. The Wolverines carried a 62-60 lead heading into the final quarter thanks to a layup from Grissom at the buzzer.

The fourth quarter saw Michigan-Dearborn pull away with an 18-point effort, while Defiance could only manage 14 points. Despite a strong effort from Defiance's top scorer, Morgan Crowe, who had 19 points, and a solid 17-point performance from Jourdyn Wynn, UM-Dearborn's balanced scoring proved too much to handle.

The standout player for UM-Dearborn was Bailey Stimac, who led all scorers with 27 points, including six three-pointers. India Grissom contributed 23 points and six assists, while Jordan Banks chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.

For Defiance, Taylor Haynes had a strong showing with 17 points, and Candyce Hollins added nine points in 33 minutes. Despite their efforts, Defiance could not slow down UM-Dearborn's offense in the game's crucial moments.

Defiance shot 45.0% from the field, 36.4% from beyond the arc, and 57.1% from the free-throw line. UM-Dearborn was slightly more efficient, shooting 48.3% from the field and 45.0% from three-point range, along with 57.7% from the charity stripe.

The Wolverines honored seven seniors before the contest, who played their final game in the Maize & Blue on Saturday.
