DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team lost to the league-leading Indiana Tech Warriors 78-48 on Wednesday (Feb. 5). Jordan Banks finished the contest with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The game began with Indiana Tech taking a slight 16-13 lead. Both teams struggled offensively, with UM-Dearborn shooting only 33.3% from the field. Indiana Tech, however, got a solid performance from Genevieve Decker (five points) and Taylor Covington (three points), which helped them maintain their narrow advantage.
Second Quarter:
The game quickly got away from the Wolverines in the second quarter. Indiana Tech outscored UM-Dearborn 22-8, pushing their lead to 38-21 by halftime. The Wolverines continued to have trouble finding their rhythm, especially from beyond the arc, where they shot just 20% (2-10). Banks led the Wolverines with seven first-half points.
Third Quarter:
UM-Dearborn tried to bounce back in the third, outscoring Indiana Tech 17-18. However, the defense of the Warriors kept them at bay, limiting the Wolverines' opportunities. Taylor Covington, who finished with a team-high 24 points, continued to carry Indiana Tech's offense, with key support from Lauren Barton (12 points, 11 rebounds).
Fourth Quarter:
Indiana Tech sealed the game in the final frame with a 22-10 scoring run. The Wolverines had trouble finding consistent offense, shooting just 21.4% from the field in the fourth quarter. UM-Dearborn's Jordan Banks finished the game with 13 points and 13 rebounds, but her efforts were not enough to turn the tide.
