Banks Secures Double Double in Loss Against Madonna

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team struggled to find their rhythm on Saturday afternoon, falling to Madonna University 73-59 at home in a non-conference matchup. The Wolverines (2-5) were outscored in each quarter, as the Crusaders (5-3) took control early and never looked back.

Madonna jumped out to an early 18-17 lead after the first quarter, with both teams playing a back-and-forth game. However, the Crusaders found their stride in the second period, outscoring the Wolverines 22-16 to take a 40-33 lead at halftime. Michigan-Dearborn nailed six first-half triples to help keep pace with the Crusaders. Meanwhile, Madonna capitalized on their free throw opportunities, going 8-of-11 from the line in the first half.

The second half saw more of the same, with Madonna continuing to build their lead. The Crusaders scored 19 points in the third quarter, while Michigan-Dearborn held strong, scoring 15. Madonna's lead ballooned to 59-48 heading into the final period. The Wolverines had no answer for Madonna's offense, led by Terre'ya Moore off the bench, who scored a team-high 18 points, and Chenelle King, who finished with 16 points.

Michigan-Dearborn tried to mount a late comeback, but the Crusaders maintained their lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wolverines 14-11 to close out the 73-59 win. The Wolverines struggled with shooting throughout the game, finishing at just 26.7% (16-of-60) from the field, including 30% (9-of-30) from beyond the arc.
