No. 8 Wolverines Stunned Late Against No. 4 Adrian

DEARBORN, Mich – The No. 8 University of Michigan Dearborn Women's hockey team took on one of their rivals tonight, No. 4 Adrian College, in an ACHA match-up. The Wolverines fell just short, losing tonight's game with a final score of 2-1.

The Wolverines struck first tonight in the late minutes of the first period with a backhand goal scored by Grace Adriaase. Assisting her goal was fellow Wolverines Stephanie Hatch and defensive partner Amy Palaian

The second period belonged to the Bulldogs, who outshot the Wolverines 17-4. The Bulldogs pinned the Wolverines in the defensive zone, using a strong forecheck to keep them from getting anything started. Halfway through the second period, the Bulldogs equalized the score and finally got on the scoresheet after repeatedly being denied by Kenna Borso

With the game in the dying minutes of the third, the Bulldogs would strike again, scoring with only three minutes left in the third and giving them the 2-1 lead. The Wolverines took a cross-checking minor second later, making the comeback even more difficult as they could only get an extra attacker for 26 seconds. Borso was unbelievable in the net, stopping 38 of the 40 shots she faced.

The Wolverines will play the Bulldogs again on Saturday (Nov. 9), concluding the final game of the home-and-home series.
