ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome Concordia University (MI) 's dominant offensive performance, falling 21-5 in WHAC play Saturday afternoon at Ferry Field.
The Wolverines (4-9, 0-5 WHAC) came out strong, grabbing an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Jeremy Fancett (man-up) and Aidan Meyers, assisted by Eric Sanders and Harrison Stidolph, respectively. However, that lead was short-lived as the Cardinals (7-4, 4-1 WHAC) responded with 17 unanswered goals over the next three quarters to take full control of the game.
Fancett led UM-Dearborn with two goals on the day, while Ryan Savage, Garrett Kern, and Meyers each added one. Stidolph tallied two assists in the loss.
After a tightly contested opening quarter, Concordia exploded offensively, scoring six goals in each of the next three periods. Travis Wright paced the Cardinals with five goals and two assists, while Cooper Regimbal and Spencer Guppy each recorded hat tricks. Concordia outshot the Wolverines 59-25 and won 25 of 31 faceoffs, giving them a significant edge in possession throughout the game.
In net, Owen Reed made 14 saves for UM-Dearborn before being relieved by Daniel Acosta, who added four saves in just over 11 minutes of action.
Despite being outmatched on the scoreboard, UM-Dearborn showed resilience in the fourth quarter, putting up three goals and forcing a handful of Concordia turnovers to finish strong.
