UM-Dearborn SID Earns 2020 Spitler Award, 12 Top-10 Awards

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn Sports Information Department earned numerous awards at the recent NAIA-SIDA Convention, held virtually on June 5.

UM-Dearborn Sports Information, under the direction of Sports Information Director Nick McCutcheon, received 12 Top-10 awards in the 2020 NAIA-SIDA Publications & Media Contest, giving the department 32 honors over the last three years.

For his efforts, McCutcheon was named the 2020 Gary Spitler Excellence in Publications Award winner, honoring the top overall sports information department in the NAIA, in terms of publications and marketing. The award is the first for UM-Dearborn and McCutcheon.

Among the Top-10 awards in 2020, UM-Dearborn received three first-place finishes, including in the categories of Schedule Cards (Men's Soccer), Infographics for Events/Accolades/Breaking News (Cody Kegley's 1,000th), and Infographics for Game Day (Volleyball). In addition, UM-Dearborn received three second-place and three third-place honors, including awards for schedule posters for women's basketball and softball.

In his career, McCutcheon has earned 44 NAIA-SIDA Top-10 awards (12 at Dakota Wesleyan University from 2014-2016), including six first-place finishes.
