Wolverines earn record 12 NAIA Scholar-Team honors

DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn Department of Athletics and Recreations set a new institution record with 12 athletic programs honored by the NAIA for outstanding achievement in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year.

The Wolverines received 12 NAIA Scholar-Team Awards, surpassing the department record of eight set in 2018-19.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

The Wolverine women's cross country program led the department with a combined 3.425-grade point average, while the Wolverine baseball team was second at 3.338, followed by men's soccer (3.321) and women's soccer at 3.293.

Softball (3.286), men's basketball (3.286), women's golf (3.200), volleyball (3.186), men's cross country (3.098), women's bowling (3.080), men's bowling (3.026) and men's golf (3.009) were all honored as scholar teams for 2019-20.

The Wolverines had 14 teams eligible for NAIA Scholar-Team in 2019-20.
