The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is men’s basketball guard Zach Lattimer, it was announced Wednesday.
The men's basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with a convincing win over Grace Christian University Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Sophomore Zach Lattimer tied a long-standing program record for outside shooting, as the Wolverines cruised to a 100-59 win over the Tigers to start the sixth season under Head Coach Taylor Langley 1-0.
Lattimer hit nine 3-pointers to tie the record set by UM-Dearborn Hall of Famer Patrick Hughes in 1997, with his last coming from well beyond the arc in the final minutes of the victory. Lattimer set a career-high with 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting to lead the Wolverines.
The Mishawaka, IN., native looks to improve upon a successful first season at UM-Dearborn that saw him make the WHAC All-Freshman team by averaging 10.4 points per game and by finishing third in the conference with 81 made 3-pointers.
UM-Dearborn is on the road for its next six games, starting with a trip to Holy Cross College at 7 pm Tuesday in Notre Dame, Ind.
