The University of Michigan-Dearborn Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2018, with the first class inducted on June 14, 2018. The UM-Dearborn Department of Athletics & Recreation is proud to honor the very best of our outstanding alumni base as members of the Athletics Hall of Fame.
An induction is held every two years in association in the UM-Dearborn Athletics Hall of Fame Golf Outing at the TPC Michigan in Dearborn. The honorees are selected by the Hall of Fame Committee, which is comprised of the Associate Athletics Director for External Operations (Chair), Sports Information Director, Assistant Director of Athletics for Internal Operations and Compliance, one non-athletics member of the UM-Dearborn staff, two former athletics staff members, and one current UM-Dearborn Head Coach. The Athletics Assistant to the Director of Athletics is on the committee as a non-voting member.
The current Hall of Fame Committee includes Bryan Earl (Chair), Dan Merian, Dr. Peggy Foss, Tim Anstett, Joe Horka and Michelle Wilson (non-voting).
Criteria for student-athlete Hall of Fame includes, but is not limited to, graduation from a four-year institution of higher education, must have exhausted athletic eligibility at UM-Dearborn, competed in two seasons at UM-Dearborn, high level of success in competition, must be of good character and have demonstrated commendable citizenship both as a student-athlete at UM-Dearborn and after graduation and five years must pass following athletic eligibility being exhausted.
Coaches must have been with UM-Dearborn for at least five years, must be of good character and have demonstrated commendable citizenship as a coach at UM-Dearborn, cultivated success in competition, academics, and character of student-athletes.
Administrators must have been a UM-Dearborn Athletics Department staff member for at least five years and have made a significant impact on the department.
Contributors can also be eligible for induction for making an outstanding impact on the Department of Athletics at UM-Dearborn.
Teams that left a historic legacy at UM-Dearborn, including conference championships and National Tournament success, are eligible for induction. Eligible five years after the season for which the team is being inducted.
The number of inductees in any Hall of Fame year will be limited to five total (including teams, which count as one induction). A minimum number of inductions has not been established. The list of nominees, which is provided by Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee, will be voted on by the members of the committee.
