Cross Country Excels at Great Lakes Challenge

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn cross-country teams ran in the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on a muddy, rainy Saturday (Oct. 21). The women's team finished 11th of 23, while the men's team finished fifth out of 23. Joe Seibert and Brett Leidal finished in the top 10, while Kylie Callison finished in 15th. 

 

Callison's 15th place finish came in a final time of 18:59.40. Her 5k time was good for an average pace of 3:48/K. Mikayla Borg took home 40th with a final time of 19:30.30. Samantha Turner was close behind Borg in 42nd place, crossing the finish line at 19:33.10. Lauryn Hoover's 20:25.50 gave her 93rd. Mary Bradshaw rounded out the top-five finishers for the Wolverines with a 20:47.70 final time. Seeing her finish 114th out of 189 competitors. 

 

Joe Seibert had an incredible race for the Wolverines as he took home fourth place out of 195 competitors. Seibert finished 11 seconds off the lead with a final time of 26:32.20 for an average pace of 3:19 in the eight-kilometer race. Brett Leidal finished 14 seconds behind Seibert in sixth place with an average pace of 3:21. Brendan Buckner and Isaac Tiernan finished back-to-back in 48th and 49th place finishing in 28:09.60 and 28:11.40, respectively. Anderson Gattis and Luke Kaferle finished neck and neck in 56th and 57th, respectively.
