DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (2-2) lacrosse team raced out to an early lead on Monday (Mar. 6). The Wolverines took a 6-2 lead heading into the second half and coasted to a comfortable 9-6 victory over Midland University (0-4).
UM-Dearborn scored the game's first four goals with four different goal scorers. Ryan Savage opened the game with an unassisted goal at the 13:55 mark. On the man advantage, Joseph
Atherall linked up with Brodie Mahmud on the man advantage to take a 2-0 lead. With 1:58 left in the first quarter, Savage scored the third Wolverine goal, again finding the back of the net on an unassisted goal.
Parker Steindl made it 4-0 to begin the second quarter, as he and Mahud connected with 13:08 left in the half. Midland would get into the scoring action to make it 4-1 before Will Atherall, and Braxton Kern would score unassisted goals extending the Wolverine lead to 6-1. Midland would score just before the half to make it 6-2 as the Wolverines would hold a four-goal lead into the break.
Midland would score three of the four goals in the third quarter to trim the Wolverine lead to two, but UM-Dearborn would take a 9-5 lead late in the game to hold on for their second win of the season.
