DEARBORN, Mich.-- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (3-2-0) women's soccer team played the last of their home non-conference slate on Wednesday (Sept. 13) as they hosted the Olivet University Comets at Star International Academy. The Wolverines utilized an early penalty kick to hold onto a 1-0 victory.

The Wolverines took the early lead as Emmi Pinkowski was taken down in the 18, 10 minutes into the match. Pinkowski stepped up to the penalty spot and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner to give the Wolverines the 1-0 lead. Much of the first half was spent in the UM-Dearborn attacking third as the Maize and Blue were stellar in the midfield.

The second half was the Pinkowski show, as the Comets could not stop her. Much of the second half saw Pinkowski racing down the left wing past multiple Comet defenders and causing fits on the back line. In the 56th minute, Pinkowski again found herself alone down the left wing. The Sophmore cut back into the 18 on her right foot and laced her second goal of the contest into the bottom right corner, leaving the Comet goaltender helpless as she expanded the Wolverine lead.

UM-Dearborns scoring would not stop there as they added a third on an own goal after the Wolverines tried to send a diagonal cross from the right wing to one of their own. However, a Comet defender misplayed the ball as it approached the turf and saw it roll into the net, giving the Wolverines a 3-0 lead and the match.
