Late Run Lifts Cardinals Past Wolverines

ROYAL OAK, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn baseball team welcomed the Concordia Cardinals to Memorial Park on a wet spring day on Saturday (Mar. 30). The Cardinals took both games in the doubleheader, winning game one 27-2 and 7-6 in the nightcap.

In game two, Jack Elkins got the start on the mound and gave the Wolverines quality innings after seeing their bullpen depleted in the previous game. Despite giving up a two-run homer in the opening inning, Elkins settled in and surrendered just three earned runs over the next six innings, surrendering just seven hits. Elkins gave way to Josh DeChane in the eighth to get the final six outs. DeChane would get the loss despite surrendering an unearned run. DeChane scattered two hits and a walk and struck out one Cardinal.

Matt Williams and Bryce Schwab each delivered clutch RBI doubles in the third and sixth innings. Roberto Torres and Max McLennan recorded RBI singles to round out the Wolverines' offensive output.
