DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (13-3-0, 10-3-0) men's ice hockey team could not end their losing skid against the Concordia (MI) Cardinals (8-7-2, 5-7-1) on Friday (Dec. 1). The Cardinals raced out to a 5-1 lead, and the Wolverines couldn't finish their comeback losing 5-3.

The Wolverines gave up the first three goals of the game before Chris Haltinner made a change in net in favor of Tanner Beals. The Wolverines responded with a goal from Bailey Byrd, who lifted a stray rebound past the Cardinal netminder to make it 3-1. CUAA answered with two unanswered goals to end the period and sent the Wolverines back to the locker rooms looking for answers.

Down four goals and looking for a spark, the Cardinals were given a tripping minor, and the Wolverines cycled the puck into the Cardinals' defensive zone. Holding the puck at the point, Josh Makarchuk fired a low shot off the pad of the Cardinal netminder after a Mikhail Khudenko redirect. Quest Bigelow was waiting for the leftover puck in front of the net and scored his fourth goal of the season.

Bailey Byrd scored an unassisted goal at the 7:29 mark to score the Wolverines' third and final goal as he walked into the offensive zone and deked a pair of Cardinals before being the goalie over his left shoulder for his 20th goal of the season.
