WIXOM, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (4-30, 4-19) baseball team gave the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (19-19, 12-9) their money's worth on Wednesday (Apr.19) at the Total Sports-Wixom baseball complex. The Wolverines took the first game 5-4 and dropped the finale 6-5.

Game One

UM-Dearborn's bats were the difference in game one as they tagged 11 base knocks compared to just six from LTU. Matthew Williams, Matthew Balash, Drake Schultz, and Gavin Hollon all had two hits in the victory.

Max McLennan broke the scoring open in the bottom of the third inning when he ripped a double to the outfield to score Schultz. LTU tagged the Wolverine starter Johnny Hesterman for two earned runs in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. However, UM-Dearborn broke the game open over the next two innings as they scored four runs which proved to be the difference in the game. Hesterman scattered three runs on five hits over 6.1 innings of work. Nick Saylor closed out the game for the Wolverines recording his first save of the season.

Game Two

The Wolverines seemed to be in control in game two as they raced out to an early 4-0 lead as Nathan Mack helped his own cause with a three-RBI double in the first. The next batter, Balash, scorched a double of his own to make it 4-0.

LTU brought it within one in the fourth before McLennan delivered an RBI single to left field to score Schultz and take a 5-3 lead. After LTU tied the game in the top of the ninth, the Wolverines couldn't muster anything in the bottom of the ninth. The Blue Devils tallied an RBI single in extras that would prove to be the game-winner as UM-Dearborn was again held scoreless in the 10th.
