DEARBORN, Mich. – Bailey Byrd secured his second hat-trick of the season to improve his total to 18. However, none were more important than his last on Saturday (Nov. 11) as Byrd scored the game-winning goal in overtime to push the No. 17 University of Michigan-Dearborn (13-0-0, 10-0-0) men's ice hockey team to a 4-3 victory in overtime over No. 9 Indiana Tech (11-4-0, 8-3-0). The Wolverines completed the sweep over the Warriors and now carry a four-point lead atop the WHAC Hockey standings.

The Wolverines got off to a rough start in the opening period as Tech scored two goals within the first 10 minutes, forcing the Wolverines to play from behind. Something that they have done very seldomly this season. However, at the 12:43 mark, the Warriors were given a delay of game minor, giving the Wolverines a needed spark. 29 seconds into the Wolverine power play, Max Hartwell tickled the twine to bring the Wolverines within one. At the 15:44 mark, the Wolverines tied the contest as Byrd scored his first goal to put the game level after one period.

Byrd again scored with 9:49 remaining in the second period to give the Wolverines the lead. Ryan Stanley provided the lone assist on the goal. Tech was persistent and would again level the game near the end of the second period as Wolverine netminder Drew Adams surrendered an unassisted goal. Neither team would score in the 3rd period despite the Wolverines outshooting the Warriors 17-3. The Wolverines carried their momentum into the sudden death overtime as they did not allow the Warriors to record a shot on goal. 1:30 into the period, the Wolverines worked the puck to Byrd in the offensive zone; Byrd tucked one under the crossbar, ending the game and giving the Wolverines their 13th victory on the season.
