Second-Half Surge Sees No. 1 Grace Unseat UM-Dearborn at Home

DEARBORN, Mich. – Down 12 points to the No.1 team in the country at the break, the University of Michigan-Dearborn (2-7) men's basketball was optimistic and saw their confidence increase as they took on the top team in the nation in No. 1 Grace College (10-0) on Wednesday (Dec. 6). The Lancers proved why they are No. 1 as they outscored the Wolverines 53-21 in the second-half to win 101-57.

Despite only shooting at a 33% clip in the first-half, the Wolverines believed they left a few too many empty possessions and were encouraged by the first half deficit despite the poor shooting. The Wolverines got critical contributions from underclassmen who scored 24 of the Wolverines' 36 first-half points. Jackson Reynolds, Zachary Cody, and Collin Miller each tallied eight points in the opening 20 minutes.

Despite the optimism, the Lancers turned up the pressure in the second half, forcing UM-Dearborn into 10 turnovers. Reynolds led the Wolverines with seven points in the half, including a deep triple from near the logo as time winded down on the shot clock.  The Lancers shot 55% in the second half to create the large margin of victory.
